Garage Gaming began as Xygote Games when we hosted our first online Halo 2 tournament in August of 2005 for the members of the IGN Boards.  Only a few weeks later, XG hosted its seconds online Halo 2 tournament, again exclusively with members of the IGN Boards competing.  Both tournaments were used as a learning experience and feedback from the events was listened to and later applied at our live events.

In the time between the online events and live events, the Xygote Games' Team (XGT) attended local tournaments and MLG LA to compete as well as to gather information on tournament execution.

Our first live event took place in February of 2006 in Ladner, BC.  XGL Vancouver launched the short lived Xygote Gaming League.  Three live events followed the first XGL, but with dwindling attendance and finances, and the Halo 2 fan-base beginning to lose interest, Xygote Games concluded business just before it's planned two-game, two-day event (Halo 2 and Smash Bros Melee) in October of 2006.

With the arrival of several new games worthy of use in competitive play, we plan to reestablish a tournament presence in the Lower Mainland.  Garage Gaming will be taking a new approach on hosting and organizing events which will allow us to hold events more often.  Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest and to those who have supported us.  We hope to have everything up and running soon.
